What did you hear after the tone on the Skype test call back? If you spoke but heard nothing on the call back, then that probably is the microphone gone.

Hi
I tried Skyping my brother yesterday and he couldn't hear me. I think the 
problem is at my end. There is no volume going through my mic.
The computer registers the mic and indicates that everything is working as it should. But on the Skype testing call and also when I tried recording on the computer, there was no output. When I checked my levels on Skype, I saw 
that no volume was registering. What could be causing that?

Could it be that my microphone is no longer working?
