Also worth noting that Apple's next operating system, Snow Leopard, which is due out in September, will bring similar functionality to all Macbook laptops. The trackpad will mirror the screen and accept the same gestures as the iPhone screen. Since the macbook will still have a keyboard, you'll be able to choose between both interaction methods. Sounds like fun to try. For more information, see www.apple.com/macosx/accessibility/ .

I'm with you on this one Darragh.

I think it's fantastic that no extra software is needed to make the device accessible. Sure it's different from current solutions, but as touch screens become more and more prevalent, innovative solutions such as this will be required. It would've been very easy for Apple to look the other way and dismiss accessibility out of hand purely because of the touch screen.

I do agree with Tim with regard to inputting text, it could be a bit tricky. The only way we'll know though is to try it out.

Personally I like the idea of being able to understand the layout of information on the screen, very different from the way we're used to visualising information at the moment. As they say - a picture paints a thousand words.

It'd be interesting to see if this method of navigation would increase the speed of browsing, perhaps it'd be quicker to skim over a screen full of information using this approach.

Time will tell...

Just my 2 cents.
