Hi all
I'm after some advice. I've taught Gypsy to target my hand and it's working
really well for dog distraction when we're working. As soon as she starts
reacting to a dog I click and she immediately switches her focus back to my
hand.

Now I want to teach her to find a post box on the side of the street. It's
quite near a corner and we usually end up going to the corner and back a couple
of times before I locate it. I have been click and treating her when I find it
myself in the hope she'll make the connection. Should I be teaching her to
target something like a bottle top or something I can later attach to whatever
I'm teaching her to find? Saying 'right, find the post box' seems to have no
affect on her at all and she's still focused on getting to the next street
corner. I have to say she's never been good at locating things for me. I have
to be really sure exactly where I am and insist on her turning where I want.
I've been told she actually looks across to what I'm asking her to find then
just ignores the request and keeps on straight ahead. I thought the clicker
might help with this as it's quite annoying.

Cheers
Paula and the bouncy Gypsy.
