[vi-android] putting songs on my memory card to use as ringtones

Hi all I have created a folder called music on my memory card. When I go to
add a ringtone it brings up sound picker but it only takes part of the song.
I want to put the song from the beginning. If someone could tell  me how to
do this I would be most greatful thanks cheers.
