Yesterday evening I found two Semipalmated Sandpipers at the pond along
Carter's Line Road near White Post in Clarke County along with two Solitary
Sandpipers and a Great Egret. This is the first eBird record for Clarke
and I am aware of only one other historical record, although this is almost
certainly due to a lack of people looking for shorebirds in Clarke. This
pond has been rather productive this fall although viewing is becoming a
bit difficult due to the height of the grass around the pond. Parking at
the railroad tracks and walking back to the red gate to scope the pond
seems to be the best strategy right now.
