I saw one in my backyard as well. I have been seeing them off and on about
once or twice a week this winter. They are smaller than chipmunk birds
(i.e., white-throated sparrows) and snowbirds (i.e., dark-eyed or
slate-colored juncos).

Mainly what I have been seeing in my backyard are starlings, as many as four
at a time, bumping off woodpeckers and snowbirds from the suet. When that
happens, or when more than three appear, I scare them off. One downy
woodpecker seems to have learned when that happens, he can get at the suet.
