Today (and about 5 days ago), I found a bird in our back yard that seems to defy attempts to identify it. It has a black body with a brown head, but it is not a cowbird, since it has white along the outside of its tail, as well as two chevron-like stripes on its back and some under the wing. I tentatively identified it as a juvenile Eastern Towhee, but I don't know if this is correct since the bird has no red on it. I searched through the bird books and found the juvenile Towhee to be the closest match. I have attached the bird. Does anyone know what it is? Thanks JimBlowers
