I birded points east of Richmond this morning. Most of my time was spent at Dutch Gap, Chesterfield Co. Between 6;30 and 7:30 am I checked a few spots along Rte. 5 (Henrico and Charles City co.). Highlights include; Grasshopper Sparrow singing, American Pipit (15) on Turkey Island Rd. (Henrico Co.) Ovenbirds (2), Palm Warbler (1 eastern), many Swamp Sparrows, Wilson's Snipe (10) at Crewes Pond (Henrico Co.) Louisiana Waterthrush along Carters Mill Rd (Henrico Co.). At Dutch Gap, Chesterfield Co. between 8:00 - 10:00 am. I walked to the 1.5 mile maker and back.
