Woke up to the "wheeping" of a Great-crested Flycatcher and the 3-8's of a Yellow-throated Vireo. A few lingering White-throated sparrows still calling in the woods. If you don't make it out to any of the "Earth Day extravaganzas" planned all over the city-put down the remote-get out of the house and make a difference in your own backyard. Put up a birdhouse, start a compost pile or plant a tree-you won't melt in the rain. "If you think you are too small to be effective you have never been in bed with a mosquito." Every day is Earth Day! Have fun. Julie Kacmarcik Chester
