VA BIRDers,

In addition to the ducks mentioned by Steve, there was a pair of Common
Goldeneye near the mouth of the Occoquan River today.

Subject: [va-bird] waterfowl on Belmont Bay (11/05/05)

After trying unsuccessfully for the Le Conte's sparrow at Occaquan
yesterday, I stopped at Mason Neck to scope Belmont Bay for waterfowl.
Numbers were up considerably from recent postings, but there wasn't much
variety yet.  A pair of redheads (male and female) was new for the season
for me.

Belmont Bay waterfowl & waterbirds

Canada goose               200

Lesser scaup                 150

Redhead                       2

Ruddy duck                   900

D-c cormorant                175

American coot               15

GB Heron                      1

Laughing gull                 8

Ring-billed gull               30

Herring gull                    5

Great black-backed gull  3
