Made a quick stop at Burke Lake this afternoon at
about 1 PM to see what waterfowl might be
concentrated in its open water. It has a large
area of open water near the boat rental area
around the island. Most of the birds were
between the island and the far shore of the lake
and were most visible from the point with the
park bench on it.
Not as much variety as expected but good numbers
of scaup and ring-neckeds. If you are
photographer, the ice is beautiful around the
edges.
Totals included
85 ring-necked duck
110 lesser scaup
1 female common merganser
10 Mallards
6 Ruddy Duck
120 Canada Geese
17 coot
10 ring-billed gull
4 herring gull
All the best
