I figured I'd get up early this morning and try to beat the "summer" heat a
bit. I
took a spin around Loftridge Park for about an hour, starting around 6:45am.
Besides
the crows and blue jays, there wasn't much stirring. About 20 min. into my
walk, in
the middle of the woods (near what some might refer to as a stream, but I'd be
more
likely to call a leftover pool of water), I saw a kingfisher! Poor guy, I hope
he
heads onto better waters soon!
Overall though, I ended up seeing more birds from my porch. Here are the
highlights
(although I must say most of these are just normal birds!):
- yellow rumped warblers
- goldfinches (abounding)
- towhees
- my first ruby crowned kinglet winthin view of the yard
- the kingfisher
I'm not sure how you vertern birders get excited enough to bird watch after a
while! Today's temperatures and lack of exciting birds makes me so
discouraged! :)
But, two days ago I did see my first Chipping Sparrow in the yard, so, it gives
me
hope!
