The winds were calm as the sun rose over the Potomac this morning to greet
the assembled Dyke Marsh walkers...Common Mergansers dotted the bay off
Bellehaven Picnic area and we were off...winds picked up as the sun rose, and
dark clouds turned our sunny skies gray and the temp. to fall as the weather,
feeling obligated to conform, fell in line with some computer-generated image
that was proabably conceived the night before by a meteorologist, morose
after being dumped by his girlfriend who had suddenly decided that
sportscasters were more to her liking. Sparrows and songbirds suffered as a
result - hunkering down, waiting for the ill-directed ire to subside so that
they once again might fly free and happy. We did manage to squeak out 45
species today w/ some fun birds...Common Loon, one lone Eagle, a Brown
Creeper and Mr and Mrs Pileated...
