Hi all,
Lots of people were pretty jazzed last year about a pair of Yellow-crowned
Night Herons nesting in Reston. I'm happy to report that they're back nesting
again -- in exactly the same tree as last year. I saw both birds at the nest
this morning and watched as the male went from tree to tree pulling off small
branches to bring back to the nest.
They're at Twin Branches trail in Reston, which begins at where Glade Drive
ends at Twin Branches Road. The nest can be tough to find, so email me if
you're interested in some detailed directions. I'm leading a walk there next
weekend if you're interested.
