This morning a male and female WOOD DUCK were in the woods behind my house
checking out cavities in the trees, apparently for a nest. While this happened
in both 2002 & 2003 it was in late March both those years. This year's visit
must either be a 2nd attempt or late 1st attempt.
No matter how many times I have seen it, I find ducks sitting on branches &
looking around in the trees a bit strange, esp. since the closest farm pond is
at least a 1/4 mile away.
The male & female Blue-winged Teals continue to visit that closest farm pond.
