On October 5 we paid a visit to the Winkler Botanical Preserve in
city. At the wildflower meadow near the entrance we saw a Blue-headedday
Vireo, Palm Warbler, Common Yellowthroat, Indigo Bunting, and maybe a
Wilson's Warbler. Three Caspian Terns passed over the preserve together,
and a Belted Kingfisher stopped at the pond. Judging from the wonderful
at Rock Creek Park DC (12 species or warbler this morning) I bet todaycould

An employee I talked to said an Eastern Bluebird was hanging around in the
winter or spring. The wildflower meadow has nothing but native plants, and
I noted a total lack of Poison Ivy on the woods trails I was on. The place
is on Roanoke Avenue in the western part of the city and is off N.
Beauregard St. 5 lefts south/west of Seminary Road, not too far from I 395
(and not too far from Clydes and a Starbucks and Ramsey Elementary School).
