After work, I went to H.M. in the hopes of seeing the W.-f. Ibises at about
5:30 PM. I was not disappointed, a lifer for me. Four were present along with
two Glossy Ibis just off the boardwalk. The Dunlin was also present (10 ft from
the boardwalk). As I was leaving the loop heading back to the parking lot, I
added a cherry to the pleasant interlude from my drive home, an American
Bittern came out from under the boardwalk right near where the loop starts, and
froze into place about 15 feet away from me with that "I'm just a bunch of
reeds" attitude.
