VA BIRDers,
Just a quick note that the very cooperative pair of American White Pelicans
(facial skin color and patterning ruled out european species) was about 75
feet off the northern shore of the picnic area near sunset Thursday evening
(yesterday). The birds were busy straining food from the water - this is
quite interesting to watch if you have never seen it before. Great photo op,
too.
This is the 195 species recorded at Dyke Marsh this calendar year.
