For those of you who don't get the Post, the following article was on
the front page of this morning's Metro section.  I think it would be of
interest to VA-BIRD subscribers:

"U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service officials said yesterday that they plan
to allow states to slaughter more than 80 percent of mute swans in U.S.
waters to curb the birds' consumption of underwater grass beds that
sustain fish and bird populations."
