Hello VA-Birders,
The summer solstice is almost here. Daylight hours start to shorten next
week. Fall migration is not far behind.
This is usually a lull period for VA-Bird posting. As a service to novice
and new-to-the-area birders, I propose that the senior birders post VA sites
that are fall migration hotspots.
I visit Hunting Creek, just south of old town Alexandria on the GW Memorial
Parkway, and just north of Dyke Marsh. There is continuing construction on
the north bank of the creek, where good scope locations once existed.
Anyone with recent on site intelligence please update. Tide information can
be found at various Internet sites.
VA-Bird continues to be a service for posting VA bird sighting reports. It
is not exclusively a rare bird alert. Any information that contributes to
better birding in the Old Dominion is welcome.
Thanks,
Paul Mocko
