At 4:30 today, while standing on my porch, I was treated to a beautiful
Light-phase ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK.
It was cruising, north to south, above I-81, just to the east of me. By my
standards, as long as I could see it from my yard, it's a
yard bird.
Unexpected, but not totally surprising, being that there had been 1 bird seen
hanging around for some time, just 5 miles north of
here, earlier this winter. Rob Simpson had found it, as well as a few other
folks. In spite of 4 trips to the spot, I never did see
it. For all I know, it could be the same bird.
