The Canada Geese descended upon the field on Parkgate Drive at about 10:30 AM
on Monday, and the Trumpeter Swan flew over the field at about the same time
but since the pond in which it was feeding was iced over, it continued
westward and disappeared in a field blocked by a row of cedars. As of 2:30
PM, it was not relocated. Hopefully it has found a nearby unfrozen pond and
will stay around.
The White-fronted Goose, which has a noticeable "limp", remains with the
Canada Geese flock, and was readily seen by the several birders at the site.
The field is on the northside of Parkgate Drive (Rte. 653) about a 1/2 mile
east of Rte 654.
The Brewer Blackbirds remain in the fields behind the old Ashbury Church, on
the right side of Fleetwood Drive (Rte 611) about 3/4 mile south of the
intersection with Aden Rd. (Rte 646), probably best seen late morning.
There were a few flyby Horned Larks and Pipits in the area.
