The weekly survey along the Hike-Bike Trail yielded more migrants today, 23
April. I could not find either the Pine Warblers or Eastern Phoebes at the
Maintenance Building, but Tree Swallows are actively nest building in the boxes
and definitely outnumber bluebirds.
The first House Wrens and Wood Thrushes have arrived (2 each) and I tallied 1
Blue-headed Vireo, 1 White-eyed Vireo, and 2 Red-eyed Vireos.
The following Warblers were present: 1 Chestnut-sided, 18 Yellow-rumped, 1
Black-and-white, and 2 Worm-eating Warblers, 8 Ovenbirds, and 11 Common
Yellowthroats. A dozen Rusty Blackbirds were hanging out in the North Marsh.
A Field Sparrow was singing in the Main Meadow where I observed a bird carrying
nesting material last week.
In the Central Marsh I observed a pair of Blue-winged Teal, 6 Green-winged
Teal, 1 Greater Yellowlegs, and 3 Solitary Sandpipers.
