Hello all
This afternoon with all of the rain I decided to check out a couple of ponds in
Augusta County . Frist I stopped off at McCune's . Here I found 2 Black Duck ,
7 No. Shoveler's , & 3 Lesser Scaup . On my way to Bells Lane on Rt. 797 I came
across an adult male No. Harrier hunting a couple of open fields . After
reaching Bells Lane I saw another No. Harrier hunting the fields & all of a
sudden another bird started to dive bomb the Harrier . This bird turned out to
be a Short -- eared Owl . After seeing these two & checking out the fence rows
for more SE Owls -- I found 3 more No. Harrier's sitting on the fence posts .
After checking out the ponds I found 2 Black Duck , 10 No. Shoveler , 9 Hooded
Merganser , 7 Ruddy Duck , 1 Horned Grebe ,& 8 Am. Coot . Not a bad afternoon
of bird watching .
