I saw the pair of Red-necked Phalaropes at Craney Island this morning. I
believe they are at the same location as posted earlier. From where the
outer road on the west side of Craney turns east (at the northwest corner of
Craney Island), it is 1.2 miles to a cross-road that goes up the hill on the
right to the north impoundment. Walk up the hill carefully, because the
shorebirds are close to the impoundment's edge. I saw the phalaropes here,
along with a Greater Yellowlegs, a dowitcher (a winter plumage Short-billed,
I thought), Semipalmated Sandpipers, Dunlin, and Semipalmated Plovers. This
area is about 3 miles from the Craney Island office.
