Folks-
Cliff's photo matches pretty well with some early spring male RE Vireos
i have seen in Gloucester's Beaverdam Park - 3 that i can recall, though
two may have been dups. They seem normal except for the face, and sing
right along with the others. I always thought maybe they were 1 yr. old
males molting into breeding plumage.
The species is abundant and gregarious as all get out in the park, and
often drop down right into sight lines. I watched one chase a female around
through the underbrush, light on a branch in front of her and dance,
swaying back and forth (very cool) for 5 secs before copulating.
Great picture!
