Just found this site. I'm looking out the window at one of a pair of red
shouldered hawks that come to the suet feeder several times a day. Watched
them copulate on 2/14(appropriate) Had a red winged blackbird stop by for
about 30 min gobbling seed on 2/13. Also a common grackle on 2/8. So far this
morning 22 morning doves, 60 goldfinches, 71 house finches, 6 white throated
sparrows 8 song sparrows, 8 cardinals, downy woodpecker, red bellied
woodpecker, pileated woodpecker, 6 American crows, 5 titmouse, 6 chickadees,
great blue heron, 2 yellow rumped warblers, 5 bluejays, 29 juncos, 3
bluebirds 3 ring neck ducks, 22 buffelhead ducks and 32 Canadian Geese.
These are at one time counts and the totals are actually higher. My back yard
extends about 60ft and drops off into a 80yd wide valley that is laced with
many beaver dams. The valley has been declared a Federal wetland. About 150
feet off the front porch is an 8 acre lake that is about 1/2 frozen over at
this time. 8" of snow on the ground. David White Dwbwmwcw@xxxxxxx
