Yesterday there was a female Northern Harrier hunting over the Quantico Creek
marsh near the outflow of Dewey Run. I also observed a very dark buteo that
was marked like a dark morph Rough-legged Hawk. This hawk was soaring 100-200
yards high, but since I was out there without my binoculars I can't vouch on
the species.
I went out again today, but the raptors were absent. I did see a dozen or so
each of Killdeers and Wilson's snipe. Also, saw one winter wren and one wren
of the genus Cistothorus but it disappeared before I could verify the species.
