Hi all,
This year's World Series of Birding (WSB) will take place on Saturday, May
14th, and this will be the fifth year in a row that I will be participating
with my team, the Holy Order of Loggerhead Shrikes ( http://www.holyshrikes.com ;
). We will be birding for 24 hours straight in Cape May County, NJ, trying to
find as many species as we can in an effort to raise money for the Pronatura
Veracruz River of Raptors program. We are fortunate this year to have our first
corporate sponsors: Eagle Optics and Vortex Optics.
Veracruz, Mexico is one of the best locations in the world for observing fall
raptor migration. Last year alone, OVER 5 MILLION RAPTORS were counted
migrating through Veracruz, many of which either bred in the DC area or passed
through on their journey south. Pronatura plays a critical role in
environmental education and habitat preservation in Veracruz, which is
beneficial to their (and our) birds of prey. This year, 100% OF YOUR DONATIONS
WILL GO DIRECTLY TO PRONATURA VERACRUZ. Pronatura Veracruz is always very
grateful for the funds they receive from you as your dollars go a long way to
help them in Mexico. If you would like to make a pledge, either for a flat
amount or an amount for each species we find in Cape May, please visit our
website and fill out the pledge form, or send me an e-mail directly:
andyrabin@xxxxxxxxxxx.
The Shrikes team lineup remains the same for the third straight year. The other
team members are Don Simonson (Montgomery County, MD), John Hubbell
(Washington, DC) and Gordon Gover (NJ). A lot more information about the team,
Pronatura Veracruz, Eagle Optics, Vortex Optics and the WSB can be found at our
new and improved web site: http://www.holyshrikes.com
The Shrikes and Pronatura Veracruz thank you for your support!
