Here are the results of Yesterday's (12/7/02) count of waterfowl in
Montgomery County at various sites, mostly along the Potomac as accessed
from the C&O Canal. The results for Black Hill Regional Park probably
duplicate in part the sightings of another group of people who birded the
park. (My sightings cover only birds seen from the bridge on Rte. 121.)
This count was coordinated by the Fairfax Audubon Society.

Smaller and shallower ponds in Montgomery County were mostly frozen over. I
did not have time to visit bodies of water in the eastern part of the
county (like the Mt. Zion Road pond) that may well still be open.
