VA Birders,
This morning just after sunrise several passerine species began appearing in my
yard here on Compton Mtn in Buchanan County. At least two (possibly 3)
WORM-EATING WARBLERS were moving about in the trees. At about the same time a
male KENTUCKY WARBLER lit in the cherry tree, which was then followed by two
OVENBIRDS, a female HOODED WARBLER and a YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER. In the
backyard were two SCARLET TANAGERS, 3 RED-EYED VIREOS and a flock of 13 CEDAR
WAXWINGS. These birds were in addition to the regulars at the feeders, NORTHERN
CARDINALS, TUFTED TITMICE, EASTERN TOWHEES, WHITE-BREASTED NUTHATCHES, CAROLINA
CHICKADEES, MOURNING DOVES and GRAY CATBIRDS.
