The first issue of Virginia Birds, a journal of ornithological sightings
in the commonwealth, is almost ready for publication. It will cover the
Summer 2004 (Jun-Jul) significant sightings compiled by eight Regional
Editors. The publication will be free to Virginia Society of
Ornithology members for the first year. At this time, there is no other
way to receive the publication and, due to budget constraints, extra
copies will not be printed. As with journals of this type from other
states, it will not be available online. So, if you'd like to receive a
copy, now is the time to join the VSO. Membership information can be
