I spent a couple of hours walking with my dog and birding near my home sw of St
Louis this morning. A couple of recent returns, some winter lingerers.I did not
see the tree swallows I was hoping to see. 37 species.

Wood duck-- 9 on St Louis sewerage plant settling ponds

Wilson's snipe- 2 overhead

Red-headed woodpecker-- 4-5; very vocal

Northern flicker- group of 7 trampolining on poison ivy branches in quest of
berries
