VA Birders,
This morning was a good birding morning in my Buchanan County yard with 39
species making an appearance. 2 raptors showed up. A RED-SHOULDERED HAWK flew
past in the neighbor's pasture, and a SHARP-SHINNED came circling up out of the
valley just after the rising sun brought up some thermals. The warblers that
came through were an AMERICAN REDSTART female, 1 BLACK-AND-WHITE male, 2
BLACKBURNIAN females, 1 BLACK-THROATED BLUE male, 2 BLACK-THROATED GREENS, one
male and one female, 2 female CHESTNUT-SIDEDS, 1 male KENTUCKY, 1 MAGNOLIA, 3
WORM-EATING and 2 YELLOW-THROATED WARBLERS. Other interesting birds were 1
BLUE-HEADED VIREO, 2 WHITE-EYED VIREOS, 4 RED-EYED VIREOS, 1 female BLUE-GRAY
GNATCATCHER, 1 CEDAR WAXWING, 8 EASTERN BLUEBIRDS, 1 GRAY CATBIRD, 1 PILEATED
WOODPECKER, 3 SCARLET TANAGERS and 5 RUBY-THROATED HUMMINGBIRDS. For those
interested the complete list follows.
Enjoy the birds,
