Yesterday my ornithology class visited Buffalo Creek Nature Area on the
border of Campbell and Bedford Counties. Highlights were two woodcock
flushed from the same spot in the woods along the trail, and a hen
turkey flushed from a nest of a dozen eggs near the trail. This morning
in Lynchburg a Canada Warbler revealed its presence by singing a few
songs, after which I was able to get a look at it. It was in a small
hedge in my neighborhood. Blackpolls are still very present, with at
least four heard singing during a brief walk in the neighborhood.
