[va-bird] Loudoun County May 12 Spring Count Preliminary Results

Preliminary Results for Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy's May 12 IMBD Count
While not everyone has reported yet the following includes almost all
the species seen & the highlights based on the preliminary results
from the various teams and counters who spread out across Loudoun
County on May 12.  Because we saw so many "nice" birds the highlights
are simply listed in taxonomic order.

The highlights of the 139 species observed were NORTHERN BOBWHITE,
BROAD-WINGED HAWK, PEREGRINE FALCON, AMERICAN WOODCOCK, LAUGHING GULL,
BLACK-BILLED CUCKOO, ALDER FLYCATCHER, WILLOW FLYCATCHER, LOGGERHEAD
SHRIKE, COMMON RAVEN (at least 15),  BROWN CREEPER, GRAY-CHEEKED
THRUSH, AMERICAN PIPIT, PROTHONOTARY WARBLER, WILSON'S WARBLER,
SAVANNAH SPARROW, WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW, ROSE-BREASTED GROSBEAK, BLUE
GROSBEAK, BOBOLINK, and PURPLE FINCH. (Birds in bold are either rare
or very uncommon on Loudoun Co Spring Counts.)
