Hello All,
We took a quick trip out to Montressor Road this morning. It took a bit of
waiting, but we did see the LOGGERHEAD SHRIKE around 11:15 A.M.
It was in the same general vicinity as reported by Andy Rabin and others. This
might be picky, but the hedgerows that are perpendicular to, and on the right
side of, Montressor Road are on the east side of the road. We were fortunate to
find the Shrike very close to the road. Close enough, in fact, to notice what
appeared to be damaged tail feathers.
Added bonuses included:
KESTRELS We saw two of them. One was sunning itself in a small opening in the
silo that is part of the green barn complex. The other was perched in a nearby
tree.
NORTHERN HARRIERS Two of them cruising the fields near the green barn complex.
BLACK VULTURE
A nice, but cold, day to be out looking for the Shrike.
