I had a few new birds for the year this morning and lot of old ones at=20
Leeslyvania State Park.
The new sightings for me were:
Blue Grosbeak
Blue Winged Warbler
Yellow Billed Cuckcoo
Unfortunately those last 2 were heard only birds. ;-(
Other birds of interest were:
Junco - 1
Cedar Waxwing 1 (yes ONE!)
Parula -8
Palm (western) - 1
Prothonotary 2 - 3
Worm Eating - 2 - 3
Ovenbird 4
Yellow Rumps
Wood Thrush
E. Kingbird - 4 (one on/building a nest)
Great Crested Flycatcher - 2
Orchard Oriole - 4
Rough Winged & Tree Swallows
Spotted Sandpipers - 4 (possibly 6)
Coopers Hawk
Osprey, and the usual, etc.
Interestingly, I didn't have one Scarlet Tanager on Powell's Creek Trail (or=
=20
anywhere else) this morning, yet last Saturday, the same area had at least 4=
!
I also had a glimpse of a heron. It was early in the morning and the sky wa=
s=20
grey and the light was not very good so I couldn't make out anything other=20
its size=E2=80=A6=E2=80=A6=E2=80=A6=E2=80=A6.bigger than a Green, smaller th=
an a Great Blue. It wasn't=20
white either. I'm thinking a Night Heron or Am. Bittern, but I only saw it=20
for about a second and it was flying away from me. Oh well,=E2=80=A6=E2=80=

that got away!
