Dear VA-Birders,
A refreshing Monday morning at Langley High School track (one mile inside
the Beltway in McLean). The freshly mowed football field attracted a flock
of 35 Cowbirds, mostly hatch year (HY) birds. Three Killdeer are still
here, probably some of the birds that nest on the school roof. Soon their
foraging fields will be taken over by offensive tackles and wide receivers.
The Wood Thrush that frequent the woods are still singing, but only for ten
or fifteen minutes in the morning. No migrating raptors in the skies.
Good birding,
Paul Mocko
