Howdy all,
Sorry for the lack of posts recently. Been busy with many things.
Anyway, the 28th and 29th were very slow days. Only banded 14 total for those
two days. Today was much better, but still less than I was hoping for. Same
ol story I guess. We banded a total of 119 today and had a very nice diverse
day with a total of 25 species. Although we didn't catch as many as I was
hopeful for, we did catch a few great species. Some of the highlights include
not
one but two CONNECTICUT WARBLERS! We even caught two TENNESSEE WARBLERS as well
today. Tennessee's were missed last year (a year in which we banded 35 species
of warblers!).On one of our last runs of the day, we caught a beautiful hatch
year male BAY-BREASTED WARBLER. We also caught our first HOODED WARBLER of
the season. And for just a taste of what's to come, we caught our first
YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLERS of the season as well.
Although not much for numbers, there were a lot of species in the park this
morning. We also saw BLACKPOLL and CAPE MAY WARBLERS as well.
BLACK-THROATED BLUE WARBLERS were in good numbers today.
