Howdy all,
Waited all season for this day! We had a huge day thanks to YELLOW-RUMPED
WARBLERS! We did have a few goodies as well. I was excited when we caught our
first WHITE-CROWNED SPARROW of the season. If you know me, I do love them
sparrows!
We also caught two CAPE MAY WARBLERS, both at the opposite end of the
beautiful spectrum. Both hatch year (hatched this summer) but one was super
bright,
the other, very very dull. Still great to have them both. We also caught
another TENNESSEE WARBLER today as well.
But the biggest highlight of the day was the banding of 514 YELLOW-RUMPS! Of
course, if you are familiar with this station, you know they always make up a
large part of our overall captures. We ended the day with a total of 625 birds
banded made up of 30 species.
Exhausting day!
Tomorrow looks really bad for banding. IF the forecast is right, looks like
tomorrow is a day off!!! I could use one of them!
