Howdy all,
Today was the start of the birding festival here. We had an ok day for netting
with a total of 50 birds being banded this morning. We had roughly 75 people
come through the banding station today and more expected the next two days. As
of right now, Sunday looks to be a good day for catching birds here. Today's
highlights were the banding of our 4th Black-billed Cuckoo of the season! We
also caught two Lincoln's Sparrows today as well.
Totals for the day:
Yellow Palm 1
Black-thr. Blue 11
C. Yellowthroat 2
Yellow-rumped 6
Yellow-breasted Chat 2
House Wren 2
E. Phoebe 1
Lincoln's Sparrow 2 only had two all of last year
Song Sparrow 1
Swamp Sparrow 1
Savannah Sparrow 2
Indigo Bunting 1
Gray Catbird 10
N. Cardinal 2
Eastern Towhee 3 first of the season
Black-billed Cuckoo 1
Blue Jay 1
Brown Thrasher 1
The weather was super nice for the festival today. Almost too nice. It should
bring in a lot of people. And the way the forecast looks, Sunday might be a
good day for the birds. Sure hope so!
Hope to see you all this weekend!
Cheers,
Jethro
