I met Ben Jesup, Jim Mathews and Jason Wanders on the boardwalk at Huntley
this morning at 6 am. While a true sunrise never came, we still had some
pretty good birds. Here are the highlights:
Yellow Crowned Night Heron - 3
American Bittern (seen by Ben before the rest of us got there)
Green Heron (along Barnyard Run)
Snipe - 4
Am. Coot - 1
Common Loon - 1 flyover
Tree and N. Rough Winged Swallows
Chimney Swifts - 2
American Kestral - 1 male (along Barnyard Run)
Eastern Kingbird - 1
Rusty Blackbirds- 50
And the rest of the usual stuff.
The Kingbird and Green Heron were new for the year for all of us and the
Kestral was a nice treat. I haven't seen one at Huntley in a long time.
