Hello, birders. I was unsuccessful in finding the
Red-necked Phalarope today, around 2:30PM, at Huntley
Meadows. It was a cool 60 degrees and misty.
I was there for an hour, quickly birding from the
parking lot to the boardwalk, over to the observation
deck and back. I did find a Spotted Sandpiper, a
female Hooded Merg with 5 chicks, Mallards incl. a
female with 7 half grown ducklings and lots of
swallows and Chimney Swifts flying low over the water.
A Bank Swallow was in this mix. 2 Barred Owls called
back and forth and a Red-shouldered Hawk called and
soared.
