The rain held off long enough this morning for me to get in a quick walk.
The Purple finches were in a mixed flock with goldfinches; the flock was
making quite a racket, foraging in the treetops between the Woodcock Meadow
and the path (once I thought I might have heard a siskin "zeeeEEE" mixed in,
but I'm not sure). Good numbers of yellow-rumps and palms, single prairies
and No. H20thrush, first of season ovenbirds, wood thrushes, and red and
white vireos (missed the patriotic trifecta). List of notables follows.
