I imagine Larry Cartwright or someone will do an official post about this,
but we had a wonderful morning on Tuesday. 15 or so of us netted 103 species
before lunch, with some species probably added in the afternoon. Highlights
included the first nighthawk of the year in the morning (I gather Kurt had
lots Tuesday evening -- wonder where they all came from), an excellent view
of a black-billed cuckoo by yours truly, a snowy egret, and apparent breeding
pair of kestrels in the "Coast Guard wetlands," and 19 species of warbler,
including Cape May, Wilson's, and Nashville.
It's not too late to pledge, even though less suspenseful now. Pledges go to
support one of the summer interns. Would someone post the final total, as
well as who to make the checks out to, so that I can inform my pledgees (FYI,
I think my total is about 4 dollars per bird).
