Observation start time: 08:30:00
Observation end   time: 14:30:00
Total observation time: 6 hours

Official Counter: Gordy Adamski

Observers:        Brenda Tekin

Visitors:
Alan Bryan from Richmond, Amy Mitchel and group from Wintergreen Nature
Conservancy.

Weather:
Strange day with periods of beautiful blue sky and puffy bands of clouds
and then dark gray clouds producing occasional rain showers.  Lower
elevation wind at times seemed out of the east but then more variable 5-11
km/h and overhead winds definitely moving out of the West.
Temp:  10.5 increasing to 15c
Humidity: 60% droping to 42%
Bar.Pressure: 1001
Cloud Cover:  Mostly cloudy to completely overcast with dark gray
threatening clouds.
Visibility: 15km

Observations:
After a slow week and no coverage on Thursday (a mostly sunny day in
C'ville), the birds were on the move bright and early.  Although not very
bright, they moved through nonetheless, even through the light rain!  And
what a day it was.  Birds were all over, high and low.  Maybe we're
finally seeing some of those Sharpies reported moving through last weekend
from sites further to our north.

Highlight of the day was a Cooper's Hawk that landed atop utility pole
very short distance from observers where it remained for approximately 5
minutes.  It then sailed along Rt. 250 heading for the I-64 overpass where
it flew up under the eastbound overpass and Rock Pigeons flew out
scattering in the wind.

Several flocks of American Tree Swallow totaling 100+ before noon.

Predictions:
Much cooler, breezy and sunny!
