Weather:
A bit of a chill, with NW breeze 5km/h briefly increasing to around 7-8km/h
and then dropping off to around 3km/h.
Thin veil of cirrus clouds with thicker patches more like a thick mist,
increasing to overcast by 2 p.m. and not much wind.
Temp: 5.5c>6.5c;
Humidity: 26% up to 31% then dropping to 29%;
Bar.Pressure: 1028;
Raptor Observations:
A few birds flying today, enough to keep us from being bored.
Two of the three Golden Eagle were observed heading north and then
relocated approximately 10-12 minutes later heading south.
Times of the 3 GOEA: 12:11; 12:35; 1:05 p.m.;
Two were juveniles and one sub-adult.
Majority of the 6 Red-shouldered were juveniles.
Things pretty much came to a screeching halt by 2 p.m. with increased
cloud cover and diminished winds.
Non-raptor Observations:
4 loons;
small flock of Red-winged Blackbirds, 25+, all adult males, heading east
through the gap.
10 Sandhill Crane (8 flying in tight formation, wing-tip to wing-tip.
Head and long slender necks fully extended and long legs extending beyond
tail. Underside of body and wings appeared uniformly greyish, darker than
the paler long slender necks that seemed pinkish flesh buffy.The two
stragglers were photographed showing the fully extended necks and legs
extending beyond the tails.
