Howdy all,
Well, today was much slower than expected. It was a nice walk in this
morning, with all the fog around and a bit warmer temps. The wind actually
stayed
fairly light most of the day. Didn't really translate into more birds, however.
We only banded 6 birds today, and only had 2 recaptures. Out of the 8 birds
caught, we had 7 species. At least it was diverse, but made for a pretty slow
day. We did catch our first GRAY CATBIRD of the season, as well as, one of my
most favorite birds to band, a BLUE JAY. They are so beautiful and CALM in the
hand! Seems odd doesn't it!
Totals for 3/29:
Winter Wren 1
Eastern Phoebe 1
Tufted Titmouse 1
Gray Catbird 1
Northern Cardinal 1
Blue Jay 1
TOTAL --------------------- 6
It was nice watching five NORTHERN WATERSNAKES catch a few sun rays most of
the day.
Cheers,
Jethro
