Howdy all,
After the last few days of being near dead, today was the nail in the coffin.
We only banded a total of THREE birds. It was pretty bad. There was not even
much in the way of birds present. Guess there is only hope for tomorrow.
We did see/hear a BLACK-THROATED GREEN WARBLER and a WHITE-EYED VIREO on the
walk out. Shannon had a CHIMNEY SWIFT fly over when she was checking some of
the Prothonotary Warbler boxes. And a few moments ago outside our house (in the
park), we hear our first CHUCK-WILL'S-WIDOW of the season.
Banding was not a complete loss, however. We did band our first PILEATED
WOODPECKER of the season!
Totals for 4/14:
Northern Parula 1
Pileated Woodpecker 1
Hermit Thrush 1
TOTAL ---------------------- 3
Sure hope it picks up soon.
Cheers,
Jethro Runco
